The one-minute boil is critical
The card says so outright. Start the timer the moment steam appears, keep stirring, and take the pan off at exactly one minute.
Work quickly
Off the heat the mixture starts setting immediately. Have the oats, peanut butter, and vanilla measured out before you start the pan.
