Peanut Blossom Cookies
Shortening and peanut butter creamed together, then a chocolate Kiss pressed in until the edges crack.

Sugar for rolling
The card says to roll the balls in sugar but doesn't set any aside for it. Keep a shallow bowl of granulated sugar on the side — a few tablespoons covers two dozen.
Press until it cracks
Set the Kiss on the hot cookie and press just hard enough that the edges crack around it. That crack is the whole look.
